Hi friends, The objective of the contact update notifications is that the project/team is reminding the assigned user (record owner/responsible user) to keep progressing with the contacts assigned for them to steward. Therefore, the update trigger timing is based off the contact status. The update needed is reset by comments from the assigned/responsible user or status change. It can be overridden with a trigger a the top of the contact record. Other users (digital responders and dispatchers) frequently add details to the conversation without actually being a substantial progress update and therefore do not automatically reset the update needed trigger. All of these settings can be tweaked or completely turned off in the Admin > Settings (D.T) > General Settings tab > Update Needed Triggers section. There is a tick box to enable/disable the update needed notifications and the timing and text of the individual notifications are set within that section.

@Jordan-Brown It's more of a general overview before the "how to starts". The one's who don't need context and just the how to can just jump to it. Most of the video's I see nowadays have them broken up into segments with a title at each topical change point so noone is stuck watching info they don't need in a longer video. The videos can be longer but because they are broken up and identified with topics you can just pick what you need. So one, I don't want to waste a more experienced user with info they don't want on an explanation but I feel that feature could solve that issue for them. For me, at this point, I would like the video to NOT start with "we are going to show you how to do X. First go to the ....then select ...." I would suggest that the videos start with something like, "We are going to show you how to do X". X is quite a beneficial feature for those of you looking to do x, y, z in a B scenario. Typically our users leverage this feature to provide X, Y Z because they need to be able to track "T". You might also want to use X in the case of P if you are an enduser needing to manage "B". Now that we know some uses for X let's look at how to install it." Thanks for your consideration.

@AJ Ah, ok. It depends on the type of magic link (user vs contact-oriented). I think you're asking about the user-oriented magic link, so I'll answer it first. Because it is user based, the user can find the link in the profile settings and turn it on and off. They have to be logged in to grab it and save it, but then could use it from a non-logged in state. Disciple.Tools hasn't made this link as easily available as it utilizes the user permissions. You can access this link from the backend where you create and customize the links. Extensions (D.T) > Magic Links > Links tab: Add or select a User Contacts Update type link and then scroll down to Assigned Users and Teams and you can add the users you want here and click update and then view and copy the links. If you set them to never expire then the same link could be used continually. You can set them to refresh and come back here to grab new links, etc. Remember to balance security needs against usability needs as there are trade-offs. However, when you create a contact-oriented magic link, there is a tile added to all the contact records titled "Apps" and it has a set of five icons on it. You can go to a contact record and utilize these buttons for that contact's link to: see the magic link, i.e. go to it now and see what they will see copy the link set up a manual sending of the link to their email with a custom note give a QR code that can be scanned refresh the link if you want the old one to no longer work and issue a new one These links are more readily available to the users who can see the record as the access given through the link is only related to fields on that record which the user can already see and work with.

Since non-users wouldn't get notifications about those comments, the combination of these two features would allow non-user contacts to be notified about updates needed for contacts they are assigned to - and give them access to make those updates.

@Cody-Adams the new D.T release is out. You should be able to use the assigned to fields now once you've installed the update.

I think the tricky part will be the logic to determine if it has been executed or not. Otherwise it's going to keep sending the same link over and over. Maybe it could store something in the database (post meta data?) that logs the last time it was sent and not send it again for a period of time or until the criteria are not met and then met again (that sounds tricky but most accurate)

Hey @jtcurtis Say we have an option "make emails generic". An admin could toggle it on. We would end up with notifications something like these: you have been assigned a contact you were @mentioned on a contact update needed on a contact new comment added to a contact a contact has been updated The option could just turn some of those off by default for all users, like "a contact has been updated". Cool idea with the merged option. I'm thinking it will be more complicated that we need at this point. There is also the option to receive notifications via whatsapp.

@micahmills, I was wrong...I don't think Trainings prayer requests have ever showed up on the prayer request list (but Group prayer requests do).
