Currently when a contact's record gets updated and an automated e-mail is sent to the assigned user, the details of the update are included in the e-mail. Because many of us are in sensitive areas, it would be great to have an option in the preferences to toggle on/off update details in automated e-mails. So, for example, if this option were toggled off, instead of sending sensitive info about the contact to my e-mail, it would simply notify me that changes were made to the record and tell me to login to view the changes. If the option were toggled on, it would send the details in the e-mail as it currently does.

        Great request @jtcurtis,

Would this need to be changed to: "You have been assigned a contact" ?

Would this say: "Changes were made on a record" ?

If all the emails said "Changes were made on a record", I could see the user quickly ignoring all the notification emails.

        What are your thoughts there?

@Corsac sorry for the delay in response. If all email notifications for sensitive and non-sensitive areas were generic, I completely agree that a user would prob just trash the email right away or set up a rule to trash them automatically. But if those generic emails could be toggled on for sensitive areas, I think everybody who uses DT would understand and respect the need to keep the data secure.

Better yet, allow for admins to write their own email notifications while obviously using merge tags to pull in relevant contact info! You could have a default set already in place but allow for customizations. I know thatโ€™s a lot more work for you guys so it may need to take a back seat, but I just thought of it so wanted to put it down. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

            Hey @jtcurtis

Say we have an option "make emails generic". An admin could toggle it on.
We would end up with notifications something like these:

            • you have been assigned a contact
            • you were @mentioned on a contact
            • update needed on a contact
            • new comment added to a contact
            • a contact has been updated

The option could just turn some of those off by default for all users, like "a contact has been updated".

Cool idea with the merged option. I'm thinking it will be more complicated that we need at this point.

There is also the option to receive notifications via whatsapp.
